The couple has been on an inspired quest for sculpturally interesting furniture objects, always including the space around it, and characterized by a careful research into their shared passion for art, architecture and materials. At the same time Muller Van Severen’s designs appear to be created almost intuitively and with total effortlessness. All of Muller Van Severens own production pieces are handmade by small-scale fabricators and skilled artisans, with an honesty to the rawness and irregularity of the chosen material.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\"\u003eHannes Van Severen about these \u003cstrong\u003ehanging lamps\u003c\/strong\u003e: ‘We were working in our new home which is an old house. A socket in the ceiling above the table was missing to plug in a light source, so we designed a lamp that could hang from the wall.’\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\"\u003eThese frivolous lamps are available in the meticulously selected playful colours that are so typical to the oeuvre of Muller Van Severen. They look like seemingly naive drawings materialized into real life. Like all Muller Van Severen’s furniture, the hanging lamps add a sober but colorful line to the interior. At the end of that line, there’s a lightbulb, with a lampshade they initially dug up at a flee market.
